Pierce-ArrowPierce-Arrow automobiles were built between 1901 and 1938. and were among the most prestigious of all the car brands. The first two cars, with single cylinder engines, were built in 1901 and apparently served more or less as demos while dealers were lined up. In 1902 - 150 of these single cylinder cars were built using the name Motorette.
~ Find Classic Car Dealers ~ Find Classic Car Insurance A two cylinder car arrived in 1903 and in 1904 a 4 cylinder car was added. In 1904 2 and 4 cylinder cars were called Arrows. A six cylinder engine came along in 1907. In 1909 the name of the cars and the company were changed to Pierce-Arrow. Competition and later the Great Depression took their toll on Pierce-Arrow. In 1928 they merged with Studebaker, which helped for a few years, but Studebaker would have its own troubles and Pierce-Arrow became independent again in 1933. The last few Pierce-Arrow cars were built in early 1938.
