![]() 1955 Studebaker SpeedsterThe top of the line Studebaker for 1955 was the President Speedster hardtop coupe.
Like all President models it used a 259 c.i.d. 175hp, V8 engine. Studebaker offed a range of transmissions in 1955 that included a 3 speed manual, a 3 speed manual with overdrive and an Automatic Drive transmission in 1955. Small vent doors on the front fenders provided cooling and ventilation for the passenger compartment. This basic two door hardtop body style was also available in the Champion, Commander and President series. An easy way to spot a Speedster is by the wide chrome trim running over the roof just ahead of the rear window. This is one of the antique cars and trucks we saw at the 2009 Studebaker Drivers Club National Meet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
