1955 Studebaker Commander

This is a 1955 Studebaker Commander Custom Coupe. Commanders were powered by V8 engines, the size of the engine depends on when the car was built.

Cars built early in the model year used a 224 c.i.d., 140hp V8, those built later used a 259 c.i.d 162hp V8.

The Custom was the base trim level in each series and lacked the wide side trim that came on the Deluxe and President trim levels.

This is one of the antique cars and trucks we saw at the 2009 Studebaker Drivers Club National Meet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
