1939 Studebaker Commander

The early 1939 Studebakers featured a sleek new grille, they also had head lights that were fully integrated into the front fenders.

Until the Champion series was introduced later in the model year the Commander was the entry level 1939 Studebaker.

Commanders had a 226 c.i.d. inline six cylinder engine that developed 90hp. The three speed manual transmission had a column mounted shift lever.

The Commander series had a wheelbase of 116.5 inches and the overall length was 197.5 inches.

This is one of the antique cars and trucks we saw at the 2009 Studebaker Drivers Club National Meet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
