1956 Pontiac
Star Chief Safari Station Wagon
This great looking 1956 Star Chief Safari station wagon shows the major
visible changes for Pontiacs this year, a new grille and side trim.
This one has an optional bumper guard.
The Safari station wagon shared a basic body with the Chevy Nomad,
but was several inches longer overall and rode on a on a longer wheelbase.
Of course the front fenders and grille were pure Pontiac.
Other 1956 Pontiac station wagons shared rear fenders with their Chevy
counterparts.
The Safari was the only 1956 Pontiac station wagon to have rear fenders
styled like those of the sedans, hardtops and convertibles.
