The 1973 Mustang convertible had a 6 cylinder engine as standard equipment. The base V8 was a 302.

A power top was standard equipment on convertibles. The standard transmission on the base models was a 3 speed manual with a floor shifter.

The basic coupe outsold the convertible by about 10 to 1.
