1961 Lincoln Continental

The 1961 Lincoln Continental was a dramaticly redesigned car. This is one of the 10,000 or so cars at the MSRA Back to the 50s' Weekend in St. Paul, MN on June 20 - 22, 2003.

A new four door convertible and a four door pillared hardtop were the only body styles. Slab sides and very smooth lines were very evident.

The rear doors were hinged at the back. This new design would influence Lincoln styling for over many years.

Continental was now the only series of Lincolns.

The new design was a little smaller with the overall length dropping to 212.4 inches from 227 and the wheelbase being reduced from 131 inches to 123.
