1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner

The Skyliner retractable hardtop convertible was a new model for Ford in 1957.

The steel top would fold and be stored in the trunk. This didn't leave a lot of room for luggage though. The trunk lid was hinged at the back, so the only way to place cargo in the trunk was to lift it over the top of the rear fenders. Then you had to reach well inside the trunk and put the cargo inside a fairly small bin to keep it from interfering with the top if you lowered it. The roof design was unique to the retractable hardtop, and much like that of the coming 1958 Thunderbird.
