1956 DeSoto
Pace Car
DeSoto was awarded the honor of pacing the Indy 500 on May 30th, 1956,
and sent two cars (one for a backup) to the event.
The actual Pace Car went to Pat Flaherty, the winner of the 500, and
an estimated 200 - 300 replicas were built for sale to the public.
Often assumed to be an Adventurer convertible, it is in reality a standard
255 horsepower Fireflite convertible decked out in the Adventurer's
exclusive exterior and interior motif.
