The1953 DeSoto Firedome Sportsman two door hardtop was powered by a 276 c.i.d., 160hp "Hemi" V8 engine.

New taillights featured taillights, brake lights, and backup lights, all with-in the same unit.

The rear window was made of of three pieces of glass.
