Luxury has been a way of life for Lincoln. One of the most celebrated Lincoln series is the Continental, first appearing in 1940 with a V12 engine.

1932 Lincoln

The original Lincoln Continental was produced for the 1940 - 1942 and 1946 - 1948 models years. In 1956 the Continental Mark II appeared, marketed by a new and seperate Continental Division of the Ford Motor Company.

The very exclusive, and very expensive, Continental Mark II was only manufactured for two model years, 1956 and 1957.

While the Mark II was sold only as a coupe there were two officially sanctioned convertibles constructed.

In 1958 the Continental name returned to the Lincoln line up.

This can be a bit confusing because later the the Lincoln Continental Mark III, IV and V series names were used twice, years apart and on very different cars.

The 1958 to 1960 versions of the Continental were top of the line Lincoln sedans, hardtops and convertibles.

The later versions of the Lincoln Continental Mark series in the sixties and seventies were more in the personal luxury coupe style of the original Lincoln Continental and the Continental Mark II.

Most of these photos were taken at local Classic Car Shows, which is always a great way to spend a day.
