All auto makers in the US stopped building cars and trucks for the public
in early 1942 and didn't start again until late 1945 because they were
busy building various things needed to fight WW II.
That meant that the first cars and trucks for sale to the public after
WWII as 1946 models were almost identicle to the few 1942 models built.
The first new designs for post war Chevys were the 1940 models.
