Binder DeSoto Collection AuctionOctober 20, 2007 This auction was held by VanDerBrink Auctions. The star of this auction was probably the 1949 Woody which sold for $57,000.00.
The second highest bid went to the 1938 Convertible at $37,500.00. Drawing a lot of attention was the 1958 DeSoto based Memphian Ambulance with it's emergency equipment and working siren. It sold for $36,000.00. DeSotos were built from 1929 until 1961 and this auction included at least one example from each year they were made. Some were just parts cars for all intents and purposes, but still interesting. The 1942 sedan with it's hidden headlights sold for $3,500.00 in #5 condition. The 34, 35, and 36 Airflow sedans went for $15,250.00, $7,750.00, and $16,500.00 in conditions 5, 4 and 4 respectively. There were a few cars other than DeSotos up for auction. They included a 1924 Ford Model T 2 door sedan and a very cool 1934 Dodge pickup truck. The 1956 DeSoto convertible went for $20,500.00, and a 55 convertible, which I don't have a photo of, sold for $36,000.00. It's always interesting to look around the parking lot to see what the folks attending the event arrived in. There is almost always a few collectors cars to be spotted in the parking lots, and this was no exception. There was a very nice 48 International Harvester pick and a 1949 Dodge pickup. There was also another DeSoto, a 1950 and I also spotted a 1937 Plymouth. |
Below are a photos of a few cool old collector
cars that were spotted in the attendees parking lot, these cars and
trucks were NOT part of the auction.
