Motley's Richmond Classic & Collector Car Auction
Event Hours: Thursday - preview all day, Friday 9AM preview, auction follows regular car sale beginning 9AM

Location: Richmond Auto Auction, 3800 Deepwater Terminal Road Richmond, VA 23234

Following the success of a $1.5 million inaugural sale last March, the Richmond Auto Auction and parent company the Motley's Auction & Realty Group will host the 2nd Annual Classic & Collector Car Auction at its unique location in Richmond, VA this April. Last year saw an on-site audience of serious collectors and dealers from up and down the east coast and from as far away as St. Louis, MO.

Current consignments already include a one-owner 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst 440/375, an exquisitely well-restored 1965 Volkswagen Beetle and a 4-speed overdrive-equipped 1972 Triumph TR6. Over 10 cars from the Raleigh Leith Collection will be offered for sale as well as other high-quality collector cars from the Richmond area and beyond.

Advertising has been placed in Sports Car Market and Car Collector Magazines - both of which will be visible at the Florida Auctions taking place this march as well as to their tens of thousands of subscribers. In addition, telephone and internet bidding will be available to all participants. We are working on creating the consignment database now on http://www.richmondaa.com/ - so keep checking back for updates and further details.

We are still actively seeking quality consignments to round out our selection and reach our goal of over 75 vehicles. A $100 discount will be offered to all who register by mid-March; a double benefit for any consignor since Motley's will be able to better market your special car.

Event Fees: FREE to the public, consignments $200 until mid-March, $300 afterwards; 4% seller commission (no reserve), 6% with reserve.

Alexandria, Virginia

May 31, 2008
The Lyceum Welcomes “Orphans in Alexandria”
Antique Car Meet Celebrates the History of Unusual American Automobiles

The Lyceum, Alexandria’s History Museum, will host an old car meet, “Orphans in Alexandria,” on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Orphans” are cars made by manufacturers that are no longer in business.

This event will focus on some of the best-known companies from the late 1930s to the early 1960s, including Hudson, Hupmobile, Graham, Willys, Kaiser-Frazer, Nash, Packard, Tucker and Studebaker, some of which operated dealerships in Alexandria. Though many people have never heard of these brands today, several of these companies once competed successfully for sales with Ford, General Motors and Chrysler.

This year, owners will make special presentations about their cars, their manufacturers and the restoration process. Exact times and topics are still to be determined.

Space is still available for those who wish to exhibit their vehicles! Owners of cars or trucks are encouraged to bring along old sales literature, historic photographs or photos showing the restoration of their vehicle, and any other collectible material related to their car or company. Those who are interested should contact Jim Mackay at 703.838.4994 in advance.

This show will be held in the parking lot of The Lyceum. The event is free and great fun for all ages!

For more information, please visit www.alexandriahistory.org or call 703.838.4994.
